Description

  • Be ultimately responsible for the daily operation and performance of the Housekeeping department
  • Manage departmental employment activities including recruitment and selection, training, retention, and performance management, etc.
  • Provide effective leadership, giving direction to individual managers/supervisors, motivating and supporting them to achieve vision and objectives
  • Plan professional development and training activities for subordinates
  • Model culture and exemplify our shared values on a day-to-day basis
  • Conduct regular team meetings to ensure that two-way communication is maintained
  • Develop and update job descriptions and standard operating procedures for all positions within the department
  • Effective scheduling, vacation planning and departmental productivity results to budget
  • Create and support the delivery of business KPI’s
  • Oversee all fiscal responsibilities and performance for the Housekeeping operations including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and corrective management
  • Oversee all operational policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources
  • Maintain a high quality of housekeeping standards in guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and lost and found
  • Develop and maintain life files on furniture, seating, and bedding for guest rooms and public areas including equipment

Requirements

  • 5+ years leadership and management experience with at least three years in housekeeping management at progressively higher levels of responsibility
  • High school or equivalent education required. University degree or College diploma in Hospitality Management an asset
  • Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate colleagues  Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Springer-Miller Host, Yellow Dog inventory system, etc.
  • Positive attitude and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong administration skills combined with communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to handle multiple duties under pressure
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Ability to work flexible hours – weekends and evenings as required

 

  • Highly responsible & reliable Physical Demands: Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment (i.e.: sun, wind, rain)
  •  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects
