Construction Project Manager

Our client, a global, industry-leading real estate and construction company, focusing on hotel renovation construction projects is currently looking to hire a Project Manager who is experienced with ICI construction renovation projects and fully competent in the profession. This job will be based in their Downtown Toronto office. The Project Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of projects, which have a beginning, an end and specified deliverables. Projects include various hotel conversion projects as well as ongoing hotel capital expenditures.

    Work closely with senior management on all aspects of project management with a view to completing various projects on time, on budget and in accordance with quality control standards; Review and manage the project schedule in conjunction with Operations and Asset Management teams; Review all contract drawings and specifications for completeness and coordination, and ensure that the project is completed in accordance with these documents; Review full trade scopes and tender documents; Prepare procurement/purchasing documentation and assist in obtaining quotes for various furniture, fixtures, and equipment; Monitor the project’s material and labour costs and ensure accurate reporting is being completed; Attend and contribute at project meetings with consultants and contractors; Ensure trade activities are undertaken in an organized fashion and work is completed on time; Advise fellow team members of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts; Maintain excellent relationships with property management, contractors, engineers, designers and consultants; Ensure comprehensive project close-out.


    • 5+ years of work experience in the high-rise residential and/or hospitality industry;
    • Educational and experience requirements to be in a project management, engineering or architecture related field;
    • Thorough understanding of industry best practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on construction projects;
    • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents Knowledge of the Ontario Building and Fire codes;
    • Knowledge of Interior Design would be an asset
    • Electrical and Mechanical knowledge would be an asset
    • Entrepreneurial self-starter with an ability to work independently and synergistically in a lean organizational structure
    • Strong organizational and planning skills with prioritizing and multi-tasking abilities to meet various time sensitive deadlines
    • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and have superior communication, presentation and interpersonal skills essential;
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Outlook;
    • Enthusiasm for personal development, taking on responsibility, challenge, and new initiatives
