WCLC, Yes Shef! and CRILS : October 29 - November 14 offers a full plate of Hospitality industry events!
Learning, networking and a unique culinary celebration of top women chefs!
2024 has been a mixed year for the hospitality industry, with hotel Occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR showing consistent YoY growth each month, but restaurants being boxed in by weak consumer demand and significantly higher operating costs. The good news is that there may be positive signs ahead for the overall economy as multiple interest rate cuts, inflation below 2% in September and 47,000 jobs added in the same month combine – especially with more interest rate cuts projected to follow soon.
Reinforcing that, Restaurants Canada “Foodservice Facts 2024“ of September 17 reported that Canada’s commercial foodservice sector is set for steady, though tempered growth over the next five years. And as one retaurateur said to Restaurants Canada for their Q2 Quarterly Report: “If we can get a handle on rising food costs and labour shortages, we will survive”.
If positive signs are indeed pointing to Canada’s recovery starting, then hospitality professionals absolutely need to be on top of all the industry news, issues and tools that will help them lead their teams and companies to success. In addition, they need to celebrate and empower the highly skilled professionals who deliver the top quality guest experiences that are the hallmark of hospitality.
These three industry events deliver on both of those counts.
The Western Canadian Lodging Conference on October 29-30 in Vancouver brings together hotel and resort sector leaders to discuss investment, development and operational challenges and opportunities. You can learn more about the WCLC and register on their website.
The Canadian Restaurant Industry Leadership Summit on Nov 6 in Toronto and Nov 16 in Vancouver offers the opportunity to hear from CEOs and executives from leading brands and industry experts about their experiences and strategies. You can learn more about CRILS and register on their website.
Yes Shef! in Vancouver the evening of November 6 offers a unique opportunity to celebrate BC’s top women chefs in an unforgettable, cocktail-style reception featuring over 20 tasting stations. Yes Shef! is put on by WORTH as part of their mission to educate, elevate and empower women in the hospitality industry – to work collectively to move the dial for equality.
